New Heat: G Herbo - Survivor's Remorse

Chicago rapper G Herbo is making news for all the right reasons. His fifth album, Survivor's Remorse, gives a glimpse into what it was like growing up in the dangerous streets of Chicago. Mark Braboy gives his insight on what he thought about the album altogether in his article for Rolling Stone. The title itself is a clear indication of what trauma has done to G Herbo's life. In his music, he tells stories of the many losses he has taken from the past ten plus years. The double album features appearances from prominent music stars such as Young Thug, Future and Gunna. The main thing I enjoyed from this album is the features from his children Yoshon and Essex. This isn't normal when both children are under the age of three years old, which gives me the impression that he is trying to set his children up for success. The album itself is a pure depiction of the violence and the heartbreak that comes as a result of staying in a city like Chicago.
